Fr Isidore Anantharaj

Fr Isidore Anantharaj, Episcopal Vicar for Immigration in the Archdiocese of Sydney

It is with great sadness that we let you know Fr Isidore Anantharaj Episcopal Director for Immigration, Sydney, died 20 January peacefully at his home presbytery in Blakehurst.  He has worked tirelessly for the Migrant chaplains of the Sydney Archdiocese since 2015, whilst running the parishes of Blakehurst and South Hurstville. He was able to speak with his two brothers in India in the final hours, and was accompanied in Sydney by his sister.

His journey over the last couple of years with liver cancer brought many struggles.

Two of his closest friends, both priests from his seminary days in India, died last November. He was ready to join them and is now at peace.

His ministry included many years of joy in Seychelles, which he always loved sharing about.
