We are excited to announce that the ACMRO will be hosting a national conference on 18-19 July 2024 at the Australian Catholic University Melbourne Campus.

The aim of the conference is to raise awareness and provide pastoral support to seasonal workers in Australia.

Celebration of World Day of Migrants and Refugee 2023

On 26 October, the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development released a video commemorating the 109th World Day of Migrants and Refugees.

The video features photos and testimonies showcasing how various communities celebrated this significant event.

It also includes responses to questions from the 'Free to Choose to Migrate or Stay' campaign.

Celebrating World Day of Migrants and Refugees

On Sunday, 24 September, St Patrick’s Cathedral was filled with people from across the globe to celebrate Migrant and Refugee Sunday.

Under the guidance of Monsignor Joselito Asis, the Episcopal Vicar for Migrants and Refugees, chaplains and representatives from nearly 20 of Melbourne's migrant communities collaborated to plan various aspects of the celebration.

Over 800 people gathered for this special event, which was rich in song, dance and prayer.

Letter from Refugee Council of Australia

On Friday, 20 October 2023, Refugee Council of Australia CEO Paul Power wrote to the Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and Minister for Immigration.

The letter expresses distress about the situation in Israel and Gaza, and asks that the Australian Government intervene urgently to seek an immediate end to the loss of life, to work towards a peaceful resolution in the region, and to ensure safety and social cohesion in our communities.
