Migrants help society grow

On 11 November, Pope Francis stated that immigrants are blessings and encourage societies to grow if they are integrated. Pope Francis was speaking to the participants of a conference promoted by the ‘Migrantes Foundation,’ the pastoral ministry of the Italian Episcopal Conference (CEI) for emigrants, immigrants and migrants.

Pope Francis restated the four steps of welcoming, protecting, promoting and integrating migrants and refugees.

Red Wednesday 2021

On 24 November, St Patrick’s Cathedral was floodlit red to mark Red Wednesday, a global initiative of Aid to the Church in Need that seeks to raise awareness of the plight of those persecuted for their religious beliefs.

Monsignor Joselito Cerna Asis presided at the vigil, which was livestreamed to the Archdiocesan YouTube channel.

During a special prayer vigil at St Patrick's Cathedral, Monsignor Thair Sheikh of Our Lady Guardian of Plants Chaldean Catholic Parish shared his own harrowing experiences of religious persecution in Iraq, before coming to Melbourne.
